Getting started
Sitewalk crawls a public website and lists its technical SEO problems, worst first, with a plain fix for each. Sitewalk works only inside AI assistants: you ask ChatGPT for an audit. There is no form on a website to fill in. This page covers everything it does.
Use it in ChatGPT
Open the app
Open Sitewalk in ChatGPT. You need a ChatGPT account.
Sign in once
The first audit asks you to connect Sitewalk. It emails you a 6-digit code to confirm your address (the code works for 15 minutes), then you allow access. No password.
Ask for an audit
Type something like this:
Audit https://yoursite.com for technical SEO problems
ChatGPT then does three things for you, using Sitewalk's three tools:
- Starts the audit. You get an audit id, the site, the page limit and your place in the queue.
- Checks progress. Status is queued, running, completed, failed or canceled, with pages crawled so far. Sitewalk fetches about one page every 1.5 seconds to stay gentle on your server, so 50 pages take about 75 seconds and 500 pages about 12 and a half minutes.
- Reads the report. The 10 worst issues by default, up to 25 if you ask. Each has the pages affected, example URLs and the fix, plus a link to the full report.
Only one audit runs at a time across the whole service, so a busy moment means a short wait in the queue. In ChatGPT, once you have signed in with your email, every audit gets up to 500 pages. Verifying a site is optional. It is only needed for Pro audits above 500 pages.
Wherever you ask, the audit runs inside the assistant. There is no form on the website for starting one. The site is only where you open the full list, download CSV or PDF, verify a site you own, and manage your account.
- Free
- 3 audits a month, with email sign-in
- No confirmed email
- Up to 50 pages per audit
- Confirmed email
- Up to 500 pages per audit on Free. On Pro, 20,000 pages a month, pooled across all your audits
A few fairness rules apply to everyone: one audit of a site at a time, and a daily limit on how many audits can target the same site across all users, so a site owner is not crawled over and over.
Verify a site you own (optional)
Verifying a site is optional. Pro audits above 500 pages in one audit need a verified domain, and there is no limit on how many sites you verify. Add one at /app/#sites. Sitewalk gives you a token, and you prove ownership one of two ways:
- Meta tag. Put this in the head of your homepage:
<meta name="auditdesk-verification" content="YOUR-TOKEN">
- DNS record. Add a TXT record:
- Name
_auditdesk.yoursite.com- Value
auditdesk-verify=YOUR-TOKEN
Then verify from the same screen. Your real token is shown there.
What the audit checks
- Titles: missing, too long, too short
- Meta descriptions: missing, too long, too short
- Missing H1
- Canonical tags, noindex and nofollow
- Server errors and client errors, including broken links
- Redirects
- Slow responses and large pages
- Thin content and duplicate content
- Images: broken images and missing alt text
- Viewport tag, page language, structured data, Open Graph and Twitter tags
Issues are ranked by impact, not by count. Each one carries a severity (high, medium or low), its category, how many pages it affects and what share of the crawl that is, a plain fix, and example URLs.
Read the report on the page, or take it with you:
- Web report at /report/, with the issues you can open one by one.
- PDF for sharing.
- CSV for a spreadsheet or your developer. Columns: rank, severity, category, issue, pages affected, share of pages, fix, example URLs.
SitewalkBot, the crawler
- User agent
SitewalkBot/1.0 (+https://audit.adityaarsharma.com/bot)- Pace
- One request at a time, about 1.5 seconds apart
- Rules
- Reads robots.txt first and obeys it. Ports 80 and 443 only. Never private or internal addresses.
To block it, add this to your robots.txt:
User-agent: SitewalkBot Disallow: /
Run it yourself
Self-host the MCP server and run it with any LLM. The engine is open source and MIT licensed, with no page caps on your own machine:
git clone https://github.com/adityaarsharma/sitewalk.git cd sitewalk docker compose up --build
Setup and every setting are in the GitHub README.

You are on Pro. Nothing to install and no key to enter: the email you sign in with is your Pro account. Manage billing in your account.
Pro is a paid plan, billed monthly: more audits and more pages a month, pooled across all your audits (the same site counts each time). Audits above 500 pages in one audit need a verified domain. Free stays free. Cancel any time and you keep Pro to the end of the month you paid for. Upgrade in your account.
